There are some real beauties posted here!
by stillin inthis one is worth repeating.
it was buried in a thread and u've been thinking about it all day.. a quote from mark twain, one of my all-time heroes.. "it's easier to fool a man than it is to convince him that he has been fooled.".
isn't that the truth....

Hadriel, I have seen it many, many, many times that the original committee had said "NOT YET" as they deemed it too soon because the offense was so serious and it hadn't been long enough, almost two years in one case! It wasn't my approach but that was because I was awake and not a jerk. I agree that the new JC are more lenient because it is all academic when it is new to them but more often than not they defer to the original in a big way because their ass is on the line with the CO if they ignore the 1st JC and countermand their decision. Its a big cult out there Hadriel. Were you an elder? Just curious. Don't have to be to see what happens in the congregtion but I've read the letters of NO and was on a committee where I was overruled and they responded no to a reinstatement request. -

If you move to the new congregation and apply for reinstatement they MUST contact the original committee. The new committee will refer to the first one. It is the original which makes the decision to reinstate unless time has passed and the members are no longer available either through death, deletion or disfellowshiping. Sorry guys but you are stuck with that committee. -

Ultimately you had an affair because you were in an unhappy marriage that you attempted to repair but were unsuccessful. You were married to a witness and it didn't work. Why marry another witness thinking it will work? Does this possible new husband believe it is the Truth any longer? If he does you are headed for trouble. So long as you are dating or seeing this person the elders will view you as unrepentant. It will be as if the fornication is continuing and you will not be reinstated. Just get reinstated and fade, build a life outside the Borg and live it single for awhile. You have never done that if you got married at 19. Just take some time off to enjoy being you without any obligations to organizations or any man. -

I was obedient and wore it on site but not on the way there or back. Having parts on the District convention dictated I wear it. Now I don't attend anything WT related. -

Returning
by Doubtfully Yours ini was a member of this community a long time ago and have lurked for years.
well, i am back and still thoroughly conflicted, with my heart/loyalties as divided as ever.
please welcome me back, hear me out, and make me feel as welcomed as before.. the wtbts has changed so very much in recent years that i feel trapped in a completely different religion altogether.

Happeanna, you certainly elicited some interesting responses. The advice ranged from remaining passive to being yelled at to "Man up!". I would love to send a DA letter telling them to shove it but it isn't pragmatic at this time for me. I have made a happy fade and care not what the org tells me to do. I hold to some habits, no longer beliefs, such as not celebrating Xmas etc. simply because I do not have any reason to. Only one family member active but she is a true believer so its easier for me to fade. I celebrate your return here, it says something about your level of frustration and disgust. Just remember that stress of that sort eats you inside and makes you physically ill. Do what you need but have a strategy to remain healthy despite the mental illness you choose to surround yourself with. Good luck friend. Keep posting. -

Stop, Drop and Roll! Best advice thus far was to go to a school counselor and ask for alternative living arrangements if he kicks you out at 18. Be ready. At 18 you are considered a legal adult but we know that you are still a teenager technically so its a bit daunting. Talk with your employer to see if he can help you with more hours so you can afford to find a new place to live. Its possible a friend at school has a loving family willing to help. Of course if you've been a good witnoid you have no friends other than Caleb and his sister in the cartoons. The elders will simply back him up I fear, but then again maybe they will tell him its better to give you a choice of meeting attendance for a year or so while you make up your mind. Take that time to make friends with worldly people and to find work or financing for school. Things have a way of falling in place so long as you actively seek to improve your situation. Reasoning with your dad may not be of any value, but don't rule it out. Its worth a try. Just don't get on board the Titanic by getting baptized, its going under! -

Why I like the Mormons and why they are so much nicer then the JWs.

Mormons are taught they will be gods one day. My experience is that they aren't waiting till they die. They are the most pompous and elitist self righteous bunch of bastards I have ever dealt with. Witnesses are a close second. -

David Bowie was on the NPR show Fresh Air with Terry Gross some years ago. She made an ass of herself and I lost all respect for her as a journalist. She almost seemed to hate him and to annoy him on purpose. He wasn't interested in talking about his glam years and the androgynous period he went through but she kept sniping him with questions about it totally out of context. He kept repeating he had outgrown it but she wouldn't let go like a dog with meat in its teeth she kept trying to tear him up. I stopped listening to her show for that reason. What a bitch.
Who can forget this song? Man what a hero.
